Enjoy!

It’s been a fairly quiet week around the Sharp house this week, which is just fine with us. It might be the last one we see for quite a while! It was Valentine’s Day on Thursday, so to celebrate we decided to go all out – we had Kandice and Mike over and watched Lost! (Yes, we’re getting wild and crazy in our old age.) Everything is going well with both Debbie and the baby, no more false labor scares or anything like that.
Most of the weekend was spent doing chores. We put up some new blinds in the baby’s room and cleaned up some of the accumulated baby stuff. And we went shopping looking for a rocking chair/glider, but we didn’t find anything that we fell in love with. (or more accurately, we haven’t really decided what it is we want yet.) But we’ve still got plenty of time…..
This week’s picture is of Debbie in our living room. It is in fact a new picture even though she is wearing the same shirt and standing in the same spot as the week 30 picture. But if you go back and look at that one you can see how much she has popped out since then.

Well, it’s been another eventful week here in San Diego. We had our last childbirth class on Thursday. Our teacher decided to have it as a potluck, so that we could all socialize a bit during the last class. Unfortunately, Debbie wasn’t feeling very well, so we headed home early. By the time we got home she had gone completely into false labor and was having contractions every two minutes. Being her usual stubborn self she didn’t want to go to the hospital. Luckily for her, they stopped about 30 seconds before I was about to drag her out of the house in her pj’s. So that was exciting. No worries though, both mom and baby are fine.
On Saturday, our friends Shay and Eric came down to San Diego with their two children Garrett and Brynn. We decided to head out to the brand new miniature golf course they just opened at the Del Mar Fairgrounds. The layout was really nice, with two different courses, one with an ocean theme and the other with a surf theme, all with blue carpet for the “green”. (We opted for the ocean side.) Shockingly (according to everyone else at least) I didn’t bring my camera, so I have no pictures to share with you.
The reason Shay and Eric made the trip down to San Diego (as if spending time with us wouldn’t be reason enough!) was for Debbie’s baby shower on Sunday. Our friend Niki hosted the party at her house. Eric, Mike and I decided to ran away as fast as possible take Garrett bowling, so we couldn’t stick around for the festivities. But I’m told that everyone had a great time and that our friend were all incredibly generous once again, spoiling our baby before she even gets here! The boys did show up again at the end of the party to eat all of the leftover food and cake help clean up and load the boxes in the car. (For the record, I did manage to beat Garrett at the bowling alley. Test for performance-enhancing substances on Eric and Mike are still pending….)

So, for this week’s photo we have Debbie at her shower with Niki, Shay, Courtney and Brynn:
With any luck we still have about five weeks to go, so keep checking back here for updates!

Well, it’s been a crazy weekend. I’ve been trying to work through my depression (more on that later), so I’ll try to keep it together long enough to finish this post.
We started the weekend with a trip to the doctor on Friday afternoon. Everything is looking great, we heard the baby’s heartbeat again (always exciting!) and starting now we have to go back every two weeks. Both mom and baby are still doing great (as long as you consider not being able to find a comfortable way to sleep and having to get up every two hours to pee to be great!)
Friday night was the event we have all been waiting for since last May – Lost is back! Our Lost “buddies” Kandice and Mike came over for dinner and Lost viewing along with their dogs Cheryl and Harmony. Kandice was taking Mike out to an undisclosed location to celebrate his birthday, so we were puppy-sitting for the weekend. It was fun to have dogs for the weekend, but I’m not sure I could handle living in this condo with two large golden retrievers (especially since it was raining all day Sunday!)
Saturday night we went to a party for our friends Dawn and John to celebrate their recent engagement. Our friend Genny was there as well. There was plenty of sangria, pasta and chocolate cake, and it was nice to be able to meet some of their other friends and family. Now we just need to convince them to move back down to San Diego!
Finally, we get to the depressing part of the weekend. Debbie’s friend and co-worker Joy and her husband Rich had a Superbowl party. The party was great with tons of food and drinks (and a nice big HD-TV! Sorry, baby, we might have to tap that college fund) And since Rich is a dedicated Pats fan, we were in friendly territory. Sadly, as I’m sure everyone is aware by now, there was a conspiracy within the NFL and the Manning family to kidnap Gisele Bundchen and hold her hostage in a glass box deep inside the bowels of the University of Phoenix Stadium (I saw it on the tv!) and threaten to send her back to Brazil unless Tom Brady threw the game. There is no other logical explanation for the outcome of that game. I’m confident the truth will come out eventually!
So, this week’s photo is Debbie and Joy at Joy’s house. The photo is a little blurry since I was having trouble focusing through the tears

I’ll be back next week with another post, assuming I can find the energy to do so. Oh, wait – Go Celtics!!!!

Ok, we’re not really still in San Francisco, but we did spend the weekend there. On Friday we flew up to Northern California to visit our friends Jay and Amy. They live in Gilroy, the “Garlic Capital of the World”, which is about an hour south of San Francisco. We flew into San Jose airport and went out to dinner (Red Robin!) with Jay and Amy and their two children Elliott and Holden. It was great to see them again, and like the rest of the weekend, it was a great preview of what life is going to be like with children! (Actually, the children were very well behaved all weekend, I’m just always amazed at how much energy they have! And how much stuff they need!)
Saturday it was forecast to rain all day, but we caught a lucky break and it wound up being a pretty nice day, just a little overcast. We started the day by driving up through San Francisco to the Golden Gate Bridge. We stopped for a quick photo op and a short walk out onto the bridge to take in the view. Then we hopped back into the car and drove over the bridge into Sausalito. We walked around for a bit and then grabbed some lunch at a random little Italian restaurant.

After lunch we headed back over the bridge. We took a short drive down Lombard Street, the “crookedest street in the world”, then headed over to Ghirardelli Square for a little snack. Unfortunately, the main Ghirardelli shop was closed for renovations, but we found a cute and ridiculously expensive cupcake shop to satisfy our chocolate cravings.

We ended the day back at Jay and Amy’s for dinner. They had a mini-baby shower for us since they can’t come down for the one in San Diego. We had a little ice-cream cake, and Elliott tried to see how much she could get on the outside as well as the inside!

Sunday was a nice relaxed day, so we just went out for brunch in Gilroy before they dropped us at the airport. We did pick the right day to go sight-seeing, since the rain started again during brunch and didn’t let up again for the rest of the day.
All in all it was a great trip. Thanks to Jay and Amy! We’ll be back for the Garlic Festival

This week’s baby photo is of Debbie standing at the foot of Lombard Street. No major baby news this week. Everything is going well, and the baby was well behaved for the plane trips and all the car travel. We go back to the doctor for a quick checkup this week, but so far everyone is doing great.
